British Colonial?

Yea! I am going to join Metamorphosis Monday with a small project. Metamorphosis Monday comes your way from Susan at Between Naps on the Porch. Our master bedroom has a bit of a British Colonial flavor and I really wanted to do something with the top of my dresser. Here is the undecorated dressor top.
I just hadn't taken the time to go hunting and gathering to put together a display. Now that we are selling the house, I figured staging counts. And it can all be transferred to our new space. Pretty bland and boring, huh?

I found this botanical print at a local store with a great clearance price as the frame had been all scuffed up. I got it for less than 1/4 of the original price. A little walnut stain and it had character instead of flaws. Then I went searching around the house for other things I could pull together. I did buy the elephant on clearance also. I suspect my husband may not appreciate him, but I have decided he is going to become my lucky elephant.

Better than before. What else do I need to add to make it a bit more interesting? I did add a little doily under the perfume bottles after I took the picture which adds some interest. I will keep tweaking. Any and all suggestions are welcome!

  2. Hello !
Sorry I am so late - it takes forever to look at everyones Met Mondays ! I love your arrangement....I am not sure about a doily..maybe a tray for the candlesticks or some type of box...move the elephant a bit towards the flower to add some space. Just my 2 cents , I am not a decorator and you should always do what you like.....

  3. Hi - I agree with Kammy - move the elephant a little - either to the left or to the right. Put a little space between him and the other things on the dresser and maybe change out the color of the candles.

    Happy 4th and be safe!!
